The Peace Kids Event, February 17, 2009
On Tuesday, February 17th, three of our Student Council
members, Andew W., Quentin C., and Paula S., attened an
event orgainzed by The Peace Kids. Mr. Jose Ramos-Horta
(president of East Timor and Nobel Peace Prize winner in
1996) was there to talk to the students about his
experiences in life. Representatives from other schools were
present and it was a very interesting hour. Before leaving
the students had the opportunity to have their picture taken
with Mr. Ramos-Horta.
Here is what Paula had to say about her experience: “When I went to the Peace Kids event I learned a lot
about the Nobel Peace Prize winner and peacemaker Jose
Ramos-Horta. I learned about what he did to make peace in his country, East Timor, where he is the president. He
talked to us about how he became a president. I enjoyed
learning about him and had a good time with students from
other schools.”
